I am convinced that the best way to do a birthday party is to have it somewhere else. Henry's bowling extravaganza went off without a hitch. The thing that made it so easy, was that Calvin was at home with a babysitter and David took the afternoon off. The bowling party was definitely a good purchase from the school auction. And there is nothing funnier than a bunch of 4-5-6 year olds trying to figure out how to bowl.

Great cakes, Phoebe. Did you make those?
I love the cakes too! Great idea.
Henry looks so excited with his blue bowling ball! What a great idea for a party- cakes and all. You are so creative. It's nice to see some of the Davis kids again too.
If I had really done it right the cakes would have been AWESOME! But I read the directions wrong, so it was 2 cakes instead of one.
It turns out that I enjoy making cakes. Who knew?
Phoebe - ever the party girl - my other kids didn't always insist on parties but Phoebe did - I sense she feels that it's not really happening if she's not there!
And she may be right!!
I love bowling. I get to go with ella's class on monday for her end-of-the-year party.
maybe i'll bowl a strike.
at least i'll look fab in the shoes.
i finally got a good look at the cakes - they are groovy!
I agree with you. It's nicer to have the party some where else. There is little cleaning up afterwards. Looks like a lot of fun!
re: party somewhere else
it is so much easier, and the bowling party was a total hit. BUT, i must say that i love the energy in my home during and especially AFTER the party has ended. i always feel very blessed and alive after i've had lots of people over at my house. maybe i'm just a true extrovert homebody. that explains it.
fun party. leah was in love with bowling.
