Now that Calvin is fast approaching the 2nd anniversary of his birth, I realize that I have no more excuses for these last 10 pounds. I really did have some good excuses.
He was my second c-section, he was born right before the holidays, total eating season, I am almost 30 and we all know that the female metabolism quickly slows down as it gets older, it's too rainy here to excercise, it's hard working out when Calvin scereams at the gym babysitting.
Well, enough excuses! I borrowed Winsor Pilates from a friend. This dear friends swears by it. She has looked great after the births of both of her kids and she says that she owes it all to Mari Winsor. (I think it has something to do with the fact that she is 5'10" and has a propensity towards slenderness.)
Monday marked the maiden voyage. I did the video with Calvin giving me strange looks as I rocked back and forth across the room doing the "Seal" excercise. Not to mention the fact that I nearly kicked him a dozen times while doing my scissor kicks. I had to take the wimpy way a few times and follow Dagne (her name is really Dagne, like Daphne with a G) as she demonstrated the "Modified" version of the excercises. I must have a delicate neck, as Mari puts it.
I woke up this morning quite sore, but still determined to do my 20-minute workout. I convinced myself with the promise of presents untold if I did the DVD everyday this week.
It seems to be working.
I feel "stronger, taller and more sculpted" already...

Go for Cindy Crawford... I have yet to purchase my own copy of my favorite workout video.
Good luck on the exercise! Let me know how it goes. I haven't ever tried pilates.
I'm right with you - except for I'll be working on the first ten pounds! As soon as we are moved - no more excuses!
go Phoebe! Exercise can be so hard but it is sooo worth it! I have tried lots of times to do videos, sometimes they can be fun and it's easier and cheaper than going to the gym for sure. I bought a dance party one once that was pretty fun. GOod luck
yes - phoebe - good luck - and don't give up.
and hannah - i think the cindy crawford one may be out of print.
Makes me want to burst into song..."where is Orinoco? Probably asleep...
