Happy Birthday to me!

My darling husband has out done himself AGAIN! Last Wednesday marked my first 29th birthday. All week long I had been allowed to open one present each day. (Very fun by the way) On Tuesday evening DL seemed like he was in quite a rush. He was acting quite mysterious and I was starting to get nervous. We got home from Soccer practice and he hands me an envelope. Inside was a ticket to Salt Lake City leaving the next night! So I packed up, left instructions and headed out for 5 days on childrenless bliss.

First order of business was to purchase People Magazine and US Weekly for some light reading on the plane. I managed to survive my flight (I have this new fear of flying, so annoying) and Sarah (BestBest) picked me up and we hit Chili's for some Southwestern Eggrolls and my free birthday dessert. All was well, until I realized the next morning that my cell phone was missing. (Oh, well. Cingular has already replaced it. I guess I had the insurance, who knew?) Other than that it was a fabulous trip. It was great to see Sarah's new house and see her girls (Lizzy and Rosie) and her husband , too.
Thursday I went down to Provo and was reunited with my Hannah. We hit up Ripple's for a Fresh Lime and ran some errands to get her ready for Goth Prom. She also hooked me up with some new tunes on my iPod. Thanks Hannah!

Friday Sarah and I went out to lunch with her mom and sister and assorted others. We called it a Phoebe Meet and Greet. Then we headed down to Tai Pan Trading. If ever you find yourself in One of the Jordans (South? West?) You need to make a stop. Just be sure you have room in your suitcase. Luckily for me I had packed an extra one. We found our Christmas plates, and large patter, butter dish, salt and pepper shakers, etc. Each year we buy each other a Christmas plate. We now have quite a collection of dishes for the season, very fun. It reminds me of Betsy and Tacy's annual trip downtown.

After spending too much at Tai PAn we headed up to Park City to stay the night without kids. We ate and shopped and stayed up way too late talking. We shopped all day on Saturday and poor Sarah was so exhausted and swollen by the end. Her Baby #3 is due next month, but we got so much Christmas shopping done that she claims it was worth it. If you ever find yourself in Park City I would recommend the TJ Maxx there. I found some awesome deals.

Saturday Night was a highlight. I got to see 3 of my 8 roommates from the BYU. It was a mini-Treehouse Girls reunion. Missy just got back from living in the Azores and Laura just moved to Sandy. Sabby has been working in SLC for a while. B was out of town, so maybe next time. I hadn't seen Missy for 6 years! It was so FUN to be back together again. We are already planning our next reunion. We ate fondue and even re-enacted moves from Body Firm by Lynette. Oh the days of Powerhouse Gym!

Sunday I went to church and just hung out. I was so exhausted and was able to take a nap. I am not used to staying up until the wee hours of the morning so many nights in a row!
Monday I headed home to my boys and I was so glad to see them all. Nothing like a break to make you appreciate your family again.
SO I'd like to thank DL for an amazing birthday. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next year.

Well, sounds like the best birthday ever - maybe even better than the year of the Cabbage Patch Kid - or lunch at Mimi's - or cupcakes in a cone in the ersatz Family Room right after we moved in - or the backyard special with easels and paints!!

Happy 29th year!!

Sounds like the PERFECT getaway!! Way to go DL!! I would be incredibly jealous except that I, too, just returned from a 3 day getaway (not 5 but it was GREAT!). My sisters and I went to Seattle to visit my mom and aunt. My mom donated her stem-cells to my aunt, who has a cancer of the blood. Everything went very well and it was a great sister's weekend!

I LOVE Seattle!! It was so beautiful! I also love cities that stay up late, which it did! Yeah for cool and supportive husbands/fathers!

Sounds fabulous! My 30th is coming up in a few months - not thinking I'll be getting away from my nursing babe. Should've planned better;)

Happy Birthday! Isn't is awesome to get away by yourself? I still think about how great my get-away was. Good for you!

By the way....thanks for the encouragement on the kitchen! Ha ha...nothing say's "vacation" like the sound of jet engines. I'll keep that in mind. :)
