OKay, the end is here.

We left on that sunny morning, worried that we wouldn't make it over the Grapevine. It had been closed all morning due to high winds and snow.
We got to Kettleman City and settled in fro a tasty lunch at In-n-out The kids were great, we ate outside in the warm sunshine, we were all geared up for the last leg of the trip.
DL got into the car and said, "Why are the brakes going all the way to the floor?"
So we spent the next 4 hours getting towed by a friendly driver, seeing the sights of the Central Valley, waiting at a mechanic to see if he could track down the part for our severed brakeline and finally renting a weird Chevy HHR (Enterprise really does pick you up!) and driving the rest of the way to LA.
We enjoyed a fabulous weekend with the family, drove back to Lemoore to pick up our car that was finished at the mechanic, had a fun dinner with my cousin's family who happens to live in Lemoore, and made the long, uneventful drive back to Oregon.
Now all of you that I failed to visit while on our trip, you now understand why. Maybe next time.
And DL refuses to make any other plans for upcoming trips. He just doesn't want to drive. I don't get it.

wow, that is some trip. I would have died of stress and anxiety and frustration over the car issues. I just can't handle all of that. I'm glad you made it back safely!!

That's so weird that David doesn't want to run out and do another vacation right away. He seemed so thrilled when we spoke on the phone. So sorry things didn't go more smoothly- but it sounds like you made the best of it!

So glad that it wasn't more exciting...I guess I knew that by the fact that you are here to blog about it.

At least you got to hang out in Lemoore!

Lemoore is actually apretty cute little town. Gorgeous High School. Reminds me of old MHS. And a charming downtown. I never would have seen it (or Scott and Shelley) had we not been towed there.
It's easy for me to see the bright side, DL on the other hand...
