I'll probably stop at McDonald's on my trip and ask for a 32 ounce drink for 75 cents. Just make sure that you tell them you want to pay 75 cents, otherwise they'll charge you full price. Why don't you give it a try?
Ph---I seriously tried the 75 cent trick here in Sacto. Didn't work. The worker acted like I was a total idiot when I said that I wanted the 32 ouncer that was only 75 cents. He was like, "no. it's 1.72." I got it anyway.
I am very curious about this 75c-32ozer also. Although I probably won't try it because the McDonald'ses here don't have drive-thrus. Yeah, you heard me right. (well, SOME of them do, most not.)

Jen "what are the prices of your soft drinks?"
worker "$1.19, $1.49, $1.79"
jen "are those all of your soda prices?"
worker "yes"
jen "well, I heard you had a 75 cent one."
worker "yes, would you like that one?"
jen "absolutely"
worker "it's just that you have to ask for it first."
