Overheard this afternoon

Henry talking to Agnes.

"Agnes, your mom is losing her mind. She's losing her mind!"

Does he know something I don't?

Maybe it's his way of explaining your behavior.

Or maybe he heard it at school!

Have you been reading the book 'Even More Parts'?

Let's review your week...

Calvin lost his tooth.

The mini lost its place.

It makes total sense that Henry thinks you may have lost your mind.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe he heard it on a movie or something. Has he been watching The Wedding Singer? Kidding, but that's one of my favorite lines from that movie, delivered by Jon Lovitz: "He's losing his mind . . . and I'm reaping all the benefits."

Question: can't stop thinking about Juno, does that mean you liked it? I have yet to find someone who agrees with me. I thought it was so crass and only a handful of funny lines! A nice story and I identified with many aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, impending motherhood, relationships, adolescence, etc., but I just wasn't that impressed with the way it all wrapped up. How nice for Juno that she had her baby, got back with her boyfriend and moved on with life and it was all good with pretty much no consequences except for a few months of "I'M A PLANET"-type depression.

But everyone I've talked to loves it! What am I missing??

Completely, sideachingly hilarious. How are kids so funny, so young?

I should add that probably the crass jokes were what did me in. I am too much of a visual person to brush those off easily. Yikes...

I think Henry heard ME saying taht Iwas losing my mind. I probably say it quite often.

About Juno. I did like it. I did think it was crass, but I also felt like it was a realistic depiction of many American households. And I like that Juno didn't go for the abortion after she considered it. I enjoyed that it was only 1 hour and 30 minutes and they didn't try to cover every detail of the 9 months. Mostly what I have been thinking about is the Jennifer Garner/Jason Bateman aspect. Very interesting to me. And obviously it was simplified. All of my friends that have adopted have never been able to hack through all of the red tape that easily.

Henry doesn't know how great he's got it...his mom's mind is marvelous. Couldn't help but over-read the Juno comments. I really liked it. I agree it was crass, but it seems to be the only movie that I've seen a long time that has provoked so much discussion. I like movies that make you think.

I also liked that she thought over the abortion rather than just going for it, and wanted to do adoption and be responsible in that way. But I still thought it wasn't very realistic about later consequences--nice though that she had supportive parents--and the dialogue was a little Dawson's Creek-y...that is, so rapid-fire and clever, no one talks like that. I loved Jennifer Garner in it, and Jason Bateman was adequately creepy-yet-lovable. I think the fact that I couldn't stand Diablo Cody (the movie's Oscar-winning screenwriter) when I first heard her interviewed, probably has something to do with my feelings on the whole thing.

But anyway I was stop hijacking the comments! Maybe I should re-watch it; it's been several months.

I should add also that I'm not surprised at Henry's statement. He is so funny...and smart for an almost-seven-year-old! He knew he was being funny!

By the way, when are you going to New York? I am trying to plan a weekend there this summer.

Erin, I agree, I like the discussion going on about the movie. Or any movie or book or TV show or Media Snafu (sp?)...

Eliza, I will be in the Big APple June June 6, 7, 8 ,9. (Oh yeah! I really can't believe I am going)) Want to meet up with us to go to Wicked?

How come I didn't know you were going to New York?

I guess I haven't talked to you in a while, Mom. But I'm going and I'm excited!
