In a New York Minute

It's true.
I had to come back to reality after a whirlwind weekend. An amazing church building, interesting sacrament meeting, and the most beautiful musical number I have ever heard in Church.
A sold out Broadway show.
Amazing skyscrapers.
Staying at the Waldorf-Astoria
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and witnessing a very sweet marriage proposal.
Red Berry Risotto Oatmeal at Norma's for breakfast. I think if I could present my meals like this my children might be more willing eaters.
The Met on a sweltering Sunday afternoon. Lucky for us we were able to manuever through thousands of people who came out for the Puerta Rican Celebration. They definitely knew how to party, the parade lasted 8 hours.
These are only a few of the activities we squeezed in. Canal Street, SoHo, Serendipity, Ground Zero, Staten Island Ferry, ABC Carpet and Home, Fishs Eddy, Patsy's, Subway Adventures, a limo ride, blisters, late nights, strange bathrooms, Carnegie Deli, Times Square, Lincoln Center and more. How did we do it all in 4 days?

Now I am jet-lagged, congested, freezing cold, and facing a mountain of laundry. Despite these conditions I am trying to figure out a way to get back to the Big Apple as soon as I can!
Thank you ladies, I can't wait for the next getaway!
And a special shout out to Agnes who managed with a bottle while I was gone and went back to nursing without a hitch when I got back. What a perfect baby!

More! I need you to spend more than a NY minute describing...
1. Why are you in dresses in every picture? Do I need dresses?
2. Where do I get dresses?
3. Did you get new luggage?
4. Was oatmeal really your best meal?
5. What broadway musical?
6. What did you buy?
7. Where did you go in the limo?

I need more! Much more.

Pheobe, that sounds like a fun trip and probably a nice get away. I am excited to see that you went to Wicked. I love the soundtrack but I have never see the show. Did you love it?

Janelle- I wore dresses a lot since it was 95 degrees. We were dying. However, we did notice that EVERYONE there was also wearing dresses. A fact that I did appreciate. I am glad to see the dress fashion coming back into style. I find dresses at H&M, TJ Maxx, Wal-Mart, and Target. Although, the yellow one I found at a boutique on NW 23rd. It's really for my sister's wedding.
I also found a fabulous suitcase at Marshall's. It's Tommy Hilfiger, Kelly Green with a pink stripe. Now I need to find more of the same set. Anyone seen any out there?
We saw Wicked and it was fabulous. I wish we could have seen 5 more shows.
We took a limo to Norma's for breakfast one morning since we couldn't get a cab and there was one waiting in front of our hotel. Totally overpriced, but still fun.
The oatmeal was up there as one of my best meals. But the frozen Hot chocolate from Serendipity and the pizza and pasta at Patsy's we right up there, too.
I bought a new clutch on Canal street (see picture from Wicked), some cool shirts for the men in my life at Uniqlo, a few items at H&M (we do not have one in Portland, so lame), and cool earrings at ABC, and fabulous books at the Met gift shop for Agnes. The shopping really was amazing.

Mom, I'll go anytime you want! Let's plan a trip for fall 2009?

Jessie, Wicked was so awesome! Rumor has it that it's coming back to Portland next summer. You have to go. I'll watch Eli for you.

I am so jealous. Maddy went to NY on her ship adventure and had a great time. I also want to do Boston. I mostly want to retire so that I can do these cool things whenever I feel like it. Your trip sounds very, very exciting.

O.K. I am officially jealous! What a fun trip. Cheryl and I saw Wicked in LA and are ready to see it again. Doesn't coming back to reality really stink after a great get away? Glad you did it and as always you always look amazing!

Phoebe,

I love your New York post. I was waiting for one of us to get the time to do it. Nice work. I am still digging out of all my laundry. Anyway, the trip was a blast. Thanks for the memories and for being so sweet to the newcomer.

Just for the record, his name really is Wallace Shawn. He's also a very well known playwright, I think maybe his acting is his secondary talent? I have no idea. I think it would have been funny if someone had asked him "Are you the voice of the dinosaur in Toy Story???"

Also, I'm down for NY in fall 09. But I don't know where I'm going to be yet! Robbie and I will be between continents because we'll be moving back from Switzerland. Lahaha.

Also, good choice on the yellow dress Ph. It is hawt.

Also, I can't wait to squeeze your baby in a week.

ALSO, did you get your shoes from Old Navy? I'm trying to figure out how to make those sandals cuter in practice than in theory on me, because it turns out I have ski feet.

I am in for fall '09 also. Definitely NO new baby or pregnancy for me then, and I am just a 4-hour drive away!

When I have been to New York it has been either the bitter cold of winter or the sweltering heat of summer. I wanted to make it there this spring but never did. Maybe we will make it this fall after the baby is born. Or maybe in December to see the festive decor. Or maybe we will brave it in the sweltering heat while I am still pregnant. (It's not like it's any hotter up there than in DC.)

At any rate, sign me up for next fall. Maybe my baby will be as awesome with the nursing vacation. We shall see.

Also, I'm curious about the Wallace Shawn conversation, I seem to have missed something.

Also, you are all looking very stylin' in your pictures.

What an amazing trip! Did you love Serendipity? I use to go there every time I went to the city with my family. I love their frozen hot chocolate!

Dresses have been found. Whew, that was a close one.
