The end of the road

I woke up this morning feeling a little blue. My first thought was that it had to do with the decidedly gloomy weather reappearing after 4 gloriously sunny days. Then I remember that we finally parted ways with my beloved Malibu. Although, to be quite honest, we haven't acted as though the poor car was very beloved to us.
After seeing it parked in the garage last week, I finally had to let it go. I felt so guilty watching it slowly rot away that I pushed David until he finally got it started and we posted it on Craigslist. After many responses Tim showed up to check it out. David realized after seeing his souped up Chevy SSR and the large Chevy tattoo on his shoulder that this was a worthy candidate. So with a heavy heart I watched the 'Bu drive away for the last time. But, I realized that it is good to let go, it is good to free up time/space/guilt. It is good to give Tim a ti9me and money suck. After all , he is retired bus driver from Stockton. I think it's right up his alley. When my brother first gave me the car for my 19th birthday, I had no idea the life lessons that would be learned from this car!

Never fear. I am already making plans for my next car.

I think you will find more joy than sorrow in this transaction.

I only drove it a couple of times - but that was enough!!

And I was always impressed at how well you could handle it!

I didn't realize you still had that car. I would love to see what Mr. Tim does with her!!! Ya know!?

It looks like the Malibu will be very happy with his/her? new owner, I mean a bus driving Chevy Tattooed, old car enthusiast? I think you made the right decision, as hard as it was!

Wow...that's weird. The Phoebes without the Malibu...
Talk about the end of an Era. You guys took us to Ripples the first time in the Malibu. Went to Swiss Days the first time in the Malibu. Good Times!
And BTW, The Fresca Obsession...wouldn't be because of Kneaders would it?
Phoebe, "Fresca on Tap? Who has Fresca on Tap?"

I loved that car. Nothing will beat those trips on the 113 up to Woodland in the 'Bu.

By the way, I love your comments on Kristi's website. Couldn't you tell how excited I was to have another newborn in the house?

We had many great memories in that car. I especially remember it parked on the front lawn of the treehouse in the snow. I always remember it when I hear the song "Stick shifts and safety belts, bucket seats have all got to go....When I'm drivin in my Malibu, it's easy to get right next to you..."

Ahhh.. this is sad! I know when we gave our "memory" car away it involved quite a few tears! You all look too cute in your picture!!! At least it was sunny the day you took the pictures.

Courageous move, Phoebs. It was fun hanging out with you guys earlier this week. Even if I did get my car window bashed in, purse & wallet stolen and am probably a prime candidate for identity theft.

I think we will all miss the Malibu! I have found memories of that car from the treehouse days. It takes two to drive the Malibu!

I have even older memories in that car. Maybe when we are old we can tell stories to our grandsons about having a malibu and they can get really upset when they hear that we let such a classic go. Kind of like dad talking about his model A's. Well I'm glad you got a lot of use out of that bday present. Who did you sell it to and what does he plan to do with it? Restore? I would be interested to know.
