Citizen Policing

Last week I called the Police.

It was pretty exciting. I can't remember if I have ever called the Police before. Actually I have-when my neighbors were dealing drugs out of their house last year.

I guess this call it was not as exciting as it could have been since I didn't call 911. I actually called the non-emergency number, but then they put me through to the dispatcher. I really wanted the Police Department to know that I am a concerned citizen. I am looking out for others. Especially when "others" are walking around, looking confused, accompanied by a toy pony.

The perk of living in a small and charming community like ours is that you are bound to make the Blotter in the local paper. It's kind of like I am famous now, except the paper didn't ever refer to the concerned citizen (me) that made the phone call. Hmmm

5/27/09 12:01 p.m. A man was wandering around carrying a small pony and looking confused. He was later transported to Multnomah County Mental Health

Oh gosh! When I read this just now I laughed out loud...and then I was sad for the poor guy...and then I laughed a little again.

(still sad for the guy though)

(and the pony)

That's even more exciting than making the Police Beat in the Daily Universe!!

The pony would have done it for me too! So funny, and yet... such a perfect image for me.

At least he wasn't trying to sell you photos of your kids on his pony.

Of course, then he would not have been confused - just a businessman!

Way to fulfill your civic duty! Please tell me it wasn't the prized birthday ponies for A's b-day...perhaps he was looking to gain your pony collection that you found?LOL!
