And please do not miss the half time show. It involved a band featuring the owner of VooDoo donuts (although, I cannot confirm this fact) and some SWEET ladies dancing in the middle of the rink while swinging lights on strings. I want to believe that it takes more skill than it looks like it does.
Be prepared for some finger (or lip) biting suspense. These roller derby ladies do not mess around. 20 minutes into the first 'Bout (match) they had to take a player off of the rink on a backboard and send her to the hospital.
Who will win? Which Jammer will win the Jam? Who is faster? Who can skate better? Can I ever skate like that? Would I ever dare where hot pants and fishnets in public? The answer to that is a big fat NO! Was that move legal or illegal? Do they really need 6 referees on the rink at all times? These are the things you wonder about all night.
And then you go home and wonder if you would be able to pick the right roller derby name. I am still working on mine. And I am taking suggestions.

i've been wanting to do this for so long! did you see "whip it"? mildly entertaining, but drew barrymore just isn't a convincing derby grrl.
What kind of names do they have? I must confess that I know little or nothing about roller derby - I just know of its existence.
Love it! I think that looks like a blast. I heard it's pretty serious business here! I think you could just apply your name as your name...Phoebulous! THen you could dominate the roller derby!

So is roller derby taking over for indoor soccer. I also like pheobulous, but we need something a little more brutal. I'll think on it. Looks like fun. Where on earth do they have a roller derby? I want to go.
