Glitter Mania

Why use a regular pen when you can use a glitter pen?

My dear friend, Linda, gave me a glitter pen last fall and ever since I have been smitten. This winter there was a craft night at Church and there I became addicted to making all of my
writing implements sparkly.
Want to make your own?
You can! Just follow my limited, blurry photo tutorial. You will figure it out.
Head to the craft store and buy pens, double sided tape (I really like this orange kind by Provo Craft, but it was on clearance so I am not sure if they still make it) and glitter. I love the multi-pack since it is cheap and it gives me lots of color options. Who doesn't want color options? If you want to make dots or stripes get double sided dots and skinny double sided tape.

Measure and cut the tape. I cut it the length of the pen and then it fits perfectly around the width. It's almost as if the tape was made just for making glitter pens.
I pour some glitter onto a plate. Each plate gets it's own color. Now you can roll it in the glitter and you have a glitter pen! For dots, first roll your pen in the base color, next apply the dots and then roll on the next color. For stripes do the same thing. For the fade (pictured below) you can hold the pen and sprinkle each color one at a time.
After your pen is finished, I recommend rolling your pen in both hands to get
the glitter to really stick.

Now you have more sparkle in your life.
You can thank me later.

Yeah, activity day girls would love this too. Some questions though...
1. does the glitter not constantly continue to fall off as you use it? I could just see one of these in my purse and the glitter getting all scraped off.
2. Ok, so that was my only question. Very cute.

Our stake did these at Girls' Camp last year and they were a hit. Although my kids also love to do them and we had a few Activity age girls over and they have loved making them, too.

Robyn, the glitter comes off a little, but if you really roll it in your hands aright after you make it it makes a difference.

was i mistaken to donate my pen to your cause? well, i'm not sure i like the way glitter is like a disease that you can never get rid of. i think i'm okay with my generous contribution. i'll accept your thank you when i see you next. :)
