Well, it looks like I have resorted to posting on here once a month. You would think that after a month I would have more to report, but I just have the same things to report as any other blogger. Summer flew by, school started and now my life is crazier and quieter all at the same time. I'm sure you understand what I am saying.
While I embrace the beginning of the school year and all of the fanfare that goes along with it- back-to-school breakfast, new clothes, new teachers, the joy of school supplies, I find that some of these trappings get in the way of my life. I mean, didn't the school look to see that Willie Nelson is in town this Thursday so that Back to School night is in direct conflict with his concert? For some reason his concert just isn't trumping going in and meeting the kids teachers (again). I think that our district doesn't fully appreciate the fact that Willie isn't getting any younger (he is 79) and I may not have many more chances to see him.
I digress...as usual.
So school started yesterday, but it feels like we have been back for weeks. My kids seem happy and therefore I am happy.
Henry started middle school and so far he hasn't gotten lost, but he did have trouble opening his locker. I am not sure how he is old enough to be in middle school because he just started kindergarten last year.
And I love that he loves his long hair. I'm still curious to see how long it lasts. David is beginning to insist on a trim.
Calvin is awesome and I am brave enough to forecast that second grade is going to be the year of Calvin. Even though he started at a new school he walked into that school like he owned the place. He has come home all smiles and sunshine. It can't hurt that his teacher's last name is Purkeypile. This is a true story- I just can't make this stuff up!
Look at that hair- can it get any blonder? Look at that smile! He is even growing in his front teeth just for his big year.
Agnes has left me for the great land known as Kindergarten (sniff, sniff). She was excited to sport her new dress, courtesy of G. Babs. What 5 year old girl can resist a dress with Strawberry Shortcake on it? I wouldn't have been able to at that age.
I tried to convince Agnes to stay home with me for another year, but she wouldn't have anything to do with it. Her teacher reported that halfway through her first day she said, "I wonder how my mom is doing. She is really going to miss me."
Do you think I have scarred her with my neediness? Oh my poor, only daughter. You have will much to endure with me, but I will try to make it worth it!
And our sweet silent Sully. He just waned to sneak into everyone else's pictures. Don't worry. Your day will come. And that day is next week when he starts going to a 2's program one morning a week!
Here's to a new school year! May my children prosper, may their Nike's make it past Christmas and may their teachers only email me with funny anecdotes from their school day.

I will second you on the Nike's and emails.
Your children are all darling.
Ah, school daze!! Somehow when you're the teacher it just isn't the same!! But I have a nice group of kids this year, so that's worth celebrating!! The kids look great!!
Calvin! Teeth! I almost don't recognize him.
Wasn't Calvin just in Wyatt's CTR 4 class? What happened?! It's fun to live vicariously through your kids to relive my school days. I can still smell the new supplies!
Your kids are the cutest! And Agnes is going to be the star of Kindergarten! I just love her!
ummm...your kids are gorgeous and I can't believe how OLD they ALL look!!
how come no one has commented on MR(S) PURKEYPILE
Hannah, maybe Purkeypile is more common than I realize?
