You may remember that Henry underwent a "name change" back in 1st grade. For some reason he decided to go by Hen at school. (Read the full story here.) Now that we have embarked on the journey that we shall refer to as Junior High, Henry has encountered a new problem. There are now 5 (5!) other Henry's at his school. Prior to this he was always the only Henry in his grade and he has always been the only Henry at church and he has never even had another Henry on any of his sports teams. He has now entered into the world of having to go by Henry F. Our Henry decided that he was ready to go for the nickname. I assumed that he would once again go by Hen or maybe he listened to me in years past and wanted to try out Hal. Of course this is not what happened. After his report to me tonight, it appears that many of his teachers now refer to him as Hank. Why, you may ask? Apparently he has been going by Hank the Tank for the past two years on his football team. Hank the Tank? The kid weighs 79 pounds dripping wet! So pretty much it is as good as it gets for a nickname.

I still laugh about your old post... "our son, the chicken."
Hank is nice, though.
Hank the tank makes me laugh.
looks like dad is finally getting his way! (i vaguely recall him calling henry "hank" after he was born and david responding, "it's just henry." hahaha)
Hank the Tank makes sense! In a few years he'll be referred to as Hank the Hunk. Or Hulk? ;). We love ya Henry F.!
I think Dad always called him "the Hankster." I suspect I will continue to call him Henry - age has some perogatives!!
Whatever he's called, he's a great kid!!
I love the name Hank.
i feel your pain. lately esme's peers have been calling her ez, or ezzie - the stupidest nickname ever. but i have held my tongue. for the most part.
