Calvin has literally loved his silky to pieces. He now has shreds hanging off the end that he rubs on his face. I kind of love that he loves it so much.
Bonny loved her "blanky" to death - it was a crocheted afghan my Aunt Dorothy had made and Bonny had worked her fingers into the holes in every corner - and stretched out the holes considerably.
But that isn't what killed it - she draped it over a space heater we had in their unheated upstairs bedroom in the Rock House in Centerville - and fortunately smelled something funny before we left the house for church that morning. The blanket didn't have much left when we found it.
And Phoebe had a blanket with satin binding - the Plewes had given it to her - and it was a rag. She was at the Noorda's house as we were packing up to move to California - and it got put in the ragbag there - and we never got it back!!
Steve and Sue Noorda - they were from Ogden - they are divorced now - have been for several years. They had a son Paul, who was little Harry's age - their other kids were older than Harry. Their oldest daughter was named Julie and when she had her first baby, something was wrong and the baby didn't live. I'm not trying to be morbid - just trying to give you some details that you might connect with.
They lived in Centerville for a few years but are back in the Ogden area now.
Ned has a a blanket too - it makes things so much easier for me! The only problem is it is huge - I'll have to see if I can get him hooked on something smaller. Peter was never attached to anything but us - some things never change (he did make it to nursery for 45 minutes yesterday - yeah!).
BTW - Your link to my blog is a little weird - doesn't show pictures, etc. I think you just need to remove the backslash at the end. Thanks for adding me - I'm not sure who is reading my blog, but the readership has gone up.
Love the blankets. When Devin was a baby Grandma T. made him a quilt which he loved, and she made a matching doll quilt for Melissa- Devin loved that also which was nice for going places (I had to make Melissa a new doll quilt)
Hey Jess, I think I fixed it now. I had been having trouble with your link for some reason. I wish Calvin would accept a substitute silky, but he turns his nose up at all of my attempts. The funny thing is that when he lost his silky (he had packed it up in a box in the closet) it was gone for a week and he seemed fine without it. If only he was okay with his binky going MIA.

i so vividly remember burning my blanket.
pretty scary.
esme' has loved hers as well - she's on her third "kiki" now.
Maggie has her "Yellow". It has a satin back that she has put holes in with her fingers. She takes it everywhere.
On a side note, Barbara, which Noorda's are you speaking of? That is my maiden name, and I'm sure we're related to whomever it is!

I wish my kids were attached to things other than the binky. it's so cute!
