*Warning, travelogue ahead*

I don't normally think of myself as a jetsetter, but one of David's co-workers commented that he was jealous of my travelling lifestyle. In the last 9 months I have been to L.A. twice, Bay Area twice, Boise, SLC, Portland, San Diego, and Sacramento/Davis.

It's what you have to do to stay sane in the winter around here, I guess. And it's nice that my kids are great at travelling and they are at good ages for it now, with school schedules and whatnot. However, I realize that this recent bout of jetsetting has caused some neglect to my blogging. Not to worry. I will be in town for another month before we head out again (this time to Seattle!) I am trying to pack it all in before I have this baby.

Here is the update...

We had a FABULOUS spring break. Thank you Darlybird and friends and DL's sisters. I drove solo down to Sacramento and the kids were perfect. We only stopped twice. I think we were blessed by the van. They were so content and only watched 2 (1 hour long) movies. Not bad for a 9 hour drive. We listened to a lot of Dan Zanes, They Might Be Giants, and Scripture Scouts.

Sunday we got to back to our beloved Davis 2 Ward. It was a lucky we went that week because we were there for the new wards to be announced. There is now a Davis family ward and a Davis married student ward. It was bittersweet, but still nice to go back to the Davis 2nd R.S for one last time. The spirit there is still very strong and very unique and the clapping is still abundant.

Monday we headed to IKEA for lunch and were treated to flies on our salad! Yikes...So a full refund and free dessert thrown in to appease us. After lunch I went down to the East Bay to visit Tiffany and kids. Barb came for dinner and the cousins had a great time playing. (And I neglected to take any pictures)

Tuesday I treated myself to a fabulous haircut in Walnut Creek by my dear friend Rhianna. Lunch on Tuesday was hosted by Camellia and attended by fellow bloggers Denae and Janelle. It was so great to be able to hang out with some of my favorite people!

I got back to Sacto just in time for a little GNO (Girls' Night Out for the uninitiated) with the gang from Davis. Sue, Cheryl (Lollygirl), Stephanie, Rachel (Darlybird), and lovely Andra were in attendance and a great time was had by all.
Wednesday morning was play time with Leah and Esther and then we went back to Davis for a playdate with all of Henry's Besties after a lunch at In-n-out. 3 hours of playtime without any arguments, tattling, bickering or fighting. Davis really is Zion!

Thursday we were treated to a morning at Henry's old pre-school, WPNS. I'll post more about that later...Then we headed off to the zoo with Rachel and kids after another lunch at In-n-out. I had to go there as many times as possible, it was well worth it. Thursday afternoon I did a liitle shopping at Darlybird and came home with fabulous new earrings and some B-day gifts for Henry. Thursday evening included dinner with the Birds at Chipotle and a trip to IKEA (Thank you David).

After a whirlwind week, I felt like I could stay for another month and not see and do all of the things that I wanted to, but I also missed my better half and I was starting to get delirious from lack of sleep. Not good for a woman who is 6 months pregnant, but keeps forgetting that she is. However, the sleep deprivation was worth the late night chats with Rachel.

The trip home was smooth, the kids were almost as angelic on the way back as they were on the way there. DL had dinner waiting for us when we go there and I slept for 11 hours that night. It is always good for me to go so that I appreciate what I have when I get back.

And that's all from Lake Wobegon...

Good for you for traveling so much. I need to do that more. It was fun to see you and your boys that have grown up so much!

so jealous! Just today Ryan and I were trying to think of some possible scenarios that might get us back to Davis for good! For a temporary fix, we're hoping for a visit Picnic Day 2008.

Sounds like a great trip - back in the day I used to do such things too. They are well worth the time, money, lack of sleep, inconvenience, etc.

Nothing takes the place of great memories - except more great memories.

Sounds like a fun trip. =>

I want to hear more about this ward change thing... A Davis family ward and a married student ward? So does that mean they've done away with 1st and 2nd wards? Do the married students with kids go to the student ward or the family ward? I need more details! (If you happen to have them, that is.)

Now if only we were within driving distance of beautiful california...

Bluebell,
The Davis 1st Ward is the traditional family ward with Bishop Purves as Bishop.
The Davis 2nd Ward is a Married student ward with all married students with or without children attending. Bishop Gubler is still Bishop over there. After June 1st the students will have an option of going over to the family ward if they choose, if I understood correctly. So if a family moved in as students, but had teenagers, they would probably go to thefamily ward and not the student ward.
The Davis 3rd ward is now just a singles ward, not limited to just single students.
Does that make sense?

Somehow your post is making me all emotional! I don't know if it's the friends, or the town, or the ward change, but something... ah...
