The Return of Crockpot Wednesday

After a brief hiatus, recipe Wednesday is back. Although I am not sure if anyone even missed it. It's not like emails were pouring in questioning it's disappearance.

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 2 inch strips (I used 1 1/2 pounds and it was plenty.)
Garlic powder to taste
3 tablespoons oil
1 cube beef bouillion
1/4 cup hot water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 large green bell peppers, roughly chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes ( I used a quart size that I had canned myself)
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt

Directions
1. Sprinkle meat with garlic powder. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the oil and brown the meat. Transfer to crock pot.
2. Mix the bouillion with hot water until dissolved, then mix cornstarch until dissolved. Poor into the crock pot with the meat. Stir in onion, green peppers, stewed tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar, and salt.
3. Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low 6-8 hours.

Serve over rice.

I found fortune cookies at the market and we had these for dessert. I thought it was a fun touch.

That sounds really good. I'm going to try it tomorrow if I can get to the store tonight. Thanks!

The directions say to add sugar, but it's not listed in the ingredients (unless I'm just not seeing it which happens often). How much sugar? A quick response would be appreciated - it's in the pot right now:)!

Sorry! 1 teaspoon sugar.
I'll try to be more aware next time. I've always hated proofreading.
