10 simple rules for a fabulous mini-vay

1. Pick the most beautiful weekend of the summer and head to the coast. 2. Pick a destination, such as the aquarium.
3. Check out the sea life (and pretend that you are really fascinated.)
4. Choose an afternoon activity like kite flying at a VERY windy beach.
5. Take some time to relax
6. Even catch a nap, if you can.
7. Get a hotel with amazing ocean views.
8. Head back to the beach early in the morning for rock skipping.
9. Be sure to dig in the sand and collect some new rocks and shells.
10. Enjoy the happiness.
For the finest vacation experience, please eat plenty of junk food, watch a movie, sleep in and do some shopping.

Just when I thought we could wait until next year for a vacation......

What a great idea - I propose it to your dad all the time - maybe I just need to push him in the car and go!

(We "go" all the time - that's the problem - but they aren't really vacations! Fun and enjoyable but not vacations - there is a difference!)

what fun and excellent views. did you get lots of sand dollars? I remember being so excited to find so many sand dollars on oregon's beaches.

Coast . . . kites . . . R&R . . . sun & sand . . . rock skipping . . . digging . . . beachcombing . . . stretching & smiling . . . oh! We are planning an Oregon getaway soon, and boy, am I ready!

That sounds (& looks) lovely! The Oregon coast was just how I like my coasts to be.

The Oregon Coast is a little cold for my taste. I do like to get in the water, but it was pretty and fun. And I can't believe how easily you can get ocean front hotekls. Not so easy to do in SoCal, the land of my inheritance.

Mom, we found the perfect house for you to buy. It was right on the coast, beach front access, 100 years old and less than $700,000. DL and I think you should retire there.

Phoebe-
It's funny, we lived in Davis all that time and never really got to know each other, but now your blog is one of my favorites. You have such a sweet family. Loved your post about Agnes in the berry outfit. She's too cute. I've been 'friends' with Geo since Soren was born and we had some linkage going on, so it was fun to see you two connecting. Isn't blogging fun? Your beach vacation looks lovely.
