And he's off!

Henry is now in first grade. He is gone all day. I miss him. Calvin misses him. Sometimes more than others.
I am not sure that he misses us.
In honor of summer being over, it rained all night and was 65 degrees. That's why it looks like it is evening in the pictures, but it was 8:30 in the morning.
Hooray for a new school year, bittersweet though it may be!

Calvin's belt is awesome

and how cool that it is chilly - you have an excuse to buy cute autumnal clothing - and actually wear it.

Ditto on fall clothing. I have an entire Kindergarden wardrobe collecting dust - and its just sooo cute. If she grows out of this stuff before it cools down here I'll be ticked!

No airconditioned classrooms. Who thought starting school in August was a GOOD idea?

We do have air-conditioned classrooms - I don't mind heading off to school these days - since I don't have central air here.

I don't remember feeling bittersweet when you guys went off to school.

What I remember wishing is that I was going to school too.

I love school!

And autumnal wardrobes!

Maybe in February I can wear a wool skirt and sweater!

If the moths haven't eaten it!

And I miss Henry too.

And Calvin and Agnes and you and David too.

I can't believe that Henry is in 1st grade!!! It just seems like yesterday that he & Rebecca were playing in the apartments as we cleaned them!

Of course, I can't believe I have 2 kids in middle school!!!

It is nice to have cooler fall weather. Especially on days like today were it warmed up in the afternoons, so it was fun to be outside to play after school.
Adn Hillary, I realized that Andrew was the age Henry is now when we were cleaning aprtments. Scary!

I miss Karolina still and she's been a first grader for 5 weeks now:) Amalia really misses her too! We are excited that now we get to volunteer every Thursday afternoon in her classroom. The day just seems so much longer without her with us.

Hey Phoebe! Just checkin' out your blog. 1000 congratulations on your sweet little daughter. May God bless and keep her in joy & peace all the days of her life!

Did Kelly tell you how much we LOVE Portland?

P.S. Just something that I have always wondered and never had the guts to ask: why are LDS always soo freakin' cool and creative? I've yet to know one who is a boring nerd. Seriously.

Oh--and I meant to tell you how ADORABLE your boys are as well. To me, they both look like you. Never have met your man, so may be I'm biased.

Yay for first grade and cool weather! I wish we could get some of that here.

I can't believe that is the morning!?! I could have sworn you got him all dressed with his backpack on at night for that shot. Cute pics.

Brandi, you are funny! Maybe LDS people value creativity more? I'll have to ask around.

Not all LDS people are creative. I would like Brandi to meet me. Maybe that would shatter her though. I am sad and happy for school, too, but Olivia is happy, so that makes me a little less sad. Henry looks adorable for his first day!
