Calvin and his friend were sitting in the "way back" of the van on the way home, so I didn't have easy access to them. Bad decision. I soon realized that they were eating all of my candy! By "they" I mostly mean Calvin. When we got home there were only 2 pieces left. 2 out of a lot more than two pieces. I was quite sad. Calvin however, was very chipper and experiencing a lovely sugar high.
The rest of the day passed in a blur as I contemplated my celebration, or lack thereof. Did this mean that I needed a do-over? Or did my intention to celebrate count? So many things to think about!
After dinner and FHE (Which was great. Thank you, David) I had to run to the market to get a few things. As I was walking up and down the aisles, I spotted these...
It has been quite some time since I have enjoyed a Twinkie. So I bought them. I bought them because I realized that I normally wouldn't have bought them, even if I had thought"I haven't had these in years." So it was truly celebratory to follow my impulse.
I agree.
Now when Henry gets home from school today, I can teach him about the finer things in life, namely Hostess Twinkies.

will you save me one? i think i need some little debbie's swiss rolls about now.
I had a craving for Twinkies when I was pregnant with Ned - so I went whole hog and drove to the Hostess Outlet in Woodland and stocked up. Let's just say that one was enough to satisfy that craving and Ryan ended up eating a whole lot more of them than me.
Enjoy!
I think Sean's record is 8 Twinkies. In one sitting, mind you.
Can you say sugar high?
mmm- tomorrow - ding dongs.
Mmm. Twinkies.
I also bought my kids christmas clothes this week. They DO sell out very quickly.
Calvin needs to learn that you can mess with a lot of things, but messing with Mamma's chocolate is asking for it! :-)
I couldn't stop laughing when I saw those pictures. You are too funny, Phoebe.
You know, Twinkies don't taste like they did when I was a kid - and when I was a kid, they were a major treat in our household.
Every time I ate one as a grown up - and I haven't had one in years, they just tasted like plastic or something. It was always a disappointment.
So I stick with lightbulb cookies!
And they never disappoint.
Nor does See's Candy!!
Way to come out of the closet as a fellow Twinkie consumer! Your house looks so great, love the trick-or-treat frames.
hmm, even after elder scotts talk preaching against the evils of almond twists and donuts (and something about quarks as well)....
"2 almond twists and a donut," possibly my favorite conference quote.
Twinkies, gross!! I can't believe you ate one!! Ding-Dongs, on the other hand...
