January?

I am thinking that it mightbe time to take our Christmas tree down. Especially since it is real and probably a fire hazard. Just a thought.

I think when they get crispy and more of their needles are on the ground is when it's time. That can sometimes take.... well... until January. Hope it isn't too messy.

I can relate Phoebe. We finally took our real tree down on the fifth. After our kids had one more chance to sleep out next to it.
This morning I said. "I think I will finish putting Christmas away". I need to wrap up the fragile ornamments and box up the Christmas books.

Just took mine down a couple days ago and I can assuredly say that there were equal number of needles on the ground as on the tree. And for some reason, somehow, the tree looked empty, as if ornaments had fallen off. I can't quite explain that phenomenon unless it's simply because of the loss of half it's needles.

Always a little sad when it's time to take it down. Kir usually tries to leave hers up until February.

Ours is still sitting on our balcony--has been since Dec 21. We wouldn't have taken it down so soon but we went out of town. Normally I do Mom's tradition of taking it down New Year's Day.

Now the box of Christmas decs is sitting in my front hall waiting for me to take it to our storage unit. It's such a headache to take Theo there though...so it will probably be sitting there for awhile.

Taking down Christmas is the worst. And doesnt your house looks so different after you take the tree down? It always took me a few days to get used to no christmas stuff around. Good luck phoebe :)

My mom took the two older kids to Utah on the 27th and within two hours of them leaving I had Christmas taken down and packed away. A new record and I must say it was a relief. Except I have found some random ornaments that found their way off the tree with the help of little Scarlett hands.

At this point Phoebes, just leave the tree up for next year! It might be super dead, nothing a glue gun and green spray paint can't fix!!!! Hey, it's all about saving the family money!

Ours is down. I was determined to "cull" out the extraneous ornaments and "stuff" that collects over the years. And gave stuff to some of you guys that was "yours" so I could pare it down - to 12 boxes now.

Which is good - they are stackable, similar sized boxes that fit in the attic of the garage.

I put the Valentine stuff up and a new rotation of pitchers, so it doesn't look all that bare.

I used to always do it on New Year's Day - while Dad watched a bowl game. I'd fuss and fume about doing it myself.

So now I take down the ornaments and put all the decorations away - and Dad takes off the lights, takes out the tree, vacuums up the needles and puts the furniture away.

It's a good trade!
