To shine for Him each day

Don't get me wrong, I love my calling to work with the teenage girls that go to our church. They are funny, sassy, unpredictable, kind, loving, and eager to learn. They are nice to me, they text me randomly, they are so excited about all of the living that is ahead of them. It is a blessing to work with them. And don't let me forget to mention the other wonderful leaders that I am able to spend so much time with. They are all great examples to me and I am so in awe of the talent and experience that they bring to the table (more than one former RS president in the bunch!) I realize that this is time for me to learn from them and figure out how to use what I learn in my own life. You may think I am exaggerating about these women, but when this new group of leaders was put together, our family had been here less than a month, I had no idea who any of them were. But after the announcement was made in Sacrament meeting, more than on person came up to me and commented that this group of leaders was pretty much "The Dream Team". I quickly learned that this was more than just hyperbole. Yes, I am grateful to work with the Young Women of my church
That being said...Sometimes- just sometimes- I wish I could be the Sunbeam teacher.

Sunbeam Teacher is a pretty sweet gig. I wish oh wish that I were the organist. Oh wait - I am! Lucky me! They took me out of Scouts a couple of months ago and I'm afraid I may have been a little too enthusiastic when I accepted the call, but they still let me have it. The only bad thing about that calling is there are a limited number of substitutes.

I have taught Sunbeams twice - each time for only a few months before I got another calling.

But I loved it!!

And would do it again in a heartbeat.

You are right. Today I got to sub in my son's sunbeam's class. Here is the sum of our day. First we had snack (we were all a little hungry), short lesson on being friends, played "guess what picture I am drawing", went for a walk and played "I spy" and then went back inside in time to clean up and then go to closing excercises. Pretty much a perfect Sunday.

I wish I were Annika's sunbeam teacher, too!

David subbed Calvin's class today. The lesson was on Animals. They ate Animal Crackers and Goldfish, they listened to the Animal Actions song and did all of the actions with it, they matched the baby animals to thier habitats and then they colored. I am proud to say that he even used 2 of my Animal lessons from my FHE goup exchanges. I knew they would come in handy someday!
After helping David get ready to do his lesson and then I started working on my YW lesson on Standards. I realized that singing Animal Actions would probably be a bit more fun.

Pretty Phoebe,
I just wanted to let you know that I ordered some cupcake goodies from darlybird and she let me know that she is one of your best buddies. Small world. I'm in love with my goodies. I love your blog, it's super cute (just like you).
Hugs,
Kat

I have been the Sunbeam teacher for a few years, during a couple of different times and I loved it. I am the RS president and I am ALWAYS wishing that I were the Sunbeam teacher especially since I can't speak spanish as well as I would like to.
