Am I stalking Craig?

Do you ever get a little obsessed about something? Not completely, but just enough that you keep going back to it, rethinking it, re-imagining it? Lately, my friends, I have been having this problem. After much consideration, I finally settled on the fact that I must suffer from Craigslist-itis.

Craigslits-itis starts with an innocent browsing of Craigslist ads. It is quickly followed up by specific and repeated searches once or twice a day and if not kept in check you will be back on the computer every hour to see if something new has surfaced or if someone has dropped their price.

When (and if) you do find the right cure/perfect piece, you may a have a few side affects. These may or may not include repeated trips to the paint store, a depletion in your supply of sand paper, new searches on Craigslist to supplement the previous "perfect piece" and it is usually followed by multiple listings on Craigslist of your own stuff so that you can make room for these new items.

While the cause of Craigslit-itis is not known, it may be a reaction to living in the same place for more than 3 years. Apparently, some people find it hard to adapt to NOT moving and must purge the entire house and rearrange all furniture as a result.

Embrace the RSS reader! It's not just for blogs. You can have brand-new Craigslist posts with a certain search term ("Bugaboo stroller" or "mid-century credenza" or what have you) sent straight to your reader.

Google Reader is more up-to-date than Bloglines, I have noticed. (But I still use Bloglines.) Anyway. It's a transformative move. No more stalking or obsessing. Just keep your reader open and you can see multiple search terms at a time. Matt has used it for job searching, he has law jobs on Craigslist sent straight to his Google Reader.

Also, I suffer from the same nesting and re-nesting syndrome. It's OK. I think your projects are fabulous also!

I love Craigslist! I've yet to live in one place longer than two years so after three I'm sure I would go crazy!!

We move next year and then retire in early 2014. I am not sure that I will ever be able to "settle" down. We have moved way too many times, however, we always have the same furniture so you are lucky to have some that is different.
