Aloha!

Another Ward Christmas Party under my belt! I will be the first to admit that this was, once again, quite a learning experience for me personally. I guess that is why the Bishopric (our congregation leaders) felt that they should ask me!

However, despite the late nights, long days, palm tree making marathons, and incredible stress- I have to say it was worth it. I was surrounded by an incredible committee, an understanding husband, kind friends, and very patient children.

We went a bit outside of the box and did a Christmas Luau. Some were skeptical about how Christmasy this would feel, but I think we managed to have a party atmosphere with a very Christmas feeling- despite the palm trees and flip flops. For some of us, (myself and Bonita), palm trees and flip flops feel exactly like Christmas! The Primary also did an incredible Nativity video that was the perfect addition to the entertainment. What a lovely presentation! Once I get a YouTube link I will post it.

Wouldn't be complete without a Surfin' Santa
Bonita and Tehia- the genius behind the DELICIOUS food and the great hula entertainment.
The RS and YW presidencies did us proud. Not to mention the Bishopric with grand finale of Mele Kalikimaka
The now infamous palm trees.
Our Ukulele band. Sweet David taught himself how to play this past month just for me! For those who missed it, he may be performing again at an upcoming family talent show.
Goofing around at the Photo Op/ front entrance. Can you believe what Steve built out of scraps from his garage?!?!
Lounging on the beach blankets in the gym.
The Primary Presidency stepped in and ran the Children's tent. The crafts were a big hit!
Here's to praying for some time off before they ask us to do this again!

Good Job Phoebe! Our Stake has done away with activity committees. So, I am guessing ours is going to consist of the same round tables with white table cloths, and a huge vat of spaghetti. I will keep you posted! I love the craft corner Idea.

Awesome Phoebe! I had to show Dave this post because our party was last night and let's just say.... it wasn't amazing. In fact I almost wanted to move out of the ward afterward. I'm sure it will be fine next year but this year was seriously lacking. Yours looks amazing!!! What a great idea.

Activity committees are no more - the ward council is supposed to come up with what the ward needs in their ward council meetings - and then divvy up the work.

Or they are lucky and have a Phoebe in their ward!

Looks like a great party. So nice that you have a ward that will let you do something less "traditional". (I struggled with that for a couple of years on the activities committee with a ward that just wanted ham and potatoes and Santa)

This year our Relief Society headed up the party and we had an 'Airplane journey' Eating dinner in Italy, visiting Mexico for pinatas, flying to the north pole to see Santa(with a real beard- the kids were so amazed!)and then finishing up the journey in Bethlehem. It was a great party.

I love the creativity you and your ward have!
