Pancakes in Pajamas

 The set up.
Sitting on the floor around the bed/table was the perfect solution to lots of little kids and
awkward big chairs.
Little cups of fruit loops and twine at each place kept them busy while they waited for their pancakes.
I convinced Aggie that you do not need cake in addition to pancakes.  She was happy.
Monogram pillows as take home favors.
This was a great activity to have the girls stuff their pillows and then bring them to me to stitch up the bottom in the machine.  They were all so patient!
Now that I know how easy it is to construct a balloon arch, you will be seeing more of these around here.  All you need is a bunch of kids to blow up the balloons for you!  I wanted to try this out at home first before I do it for our Relief Society Garden Party in a few weeks.  The gals at church may get tired of seeing them at every activity.

A girl only turns 5 once, right?

Since I vividly remember my 5th birthday, I was excited to plan a real birthday party for Agnes.  She hasn't had one since she turned one!
This morning a fun group on little girls showed up at our house in their jammies for pancakes, pin the pajamas on the paper doll, stuff your own pillow, 3 bears in a bed, fruit loop necklaces and a lot of magic scratch art time.
Now I just have to get that bed out of my dining room...

I enjoyed brainstorming with David and friends about ideas for this one.  Luckily, I also had lots of help!  David is a pro at gathering ruffles and ironing on fabric letters.  The whole bed/table thing was not a product of my hard work, but now that I know of Amy's hidden talents, I hope I get to see more of this creative process in action:)

I think I may take a few years off from throwing another birthday party, even though they are so fun to plan.  One every 5 years seems fair, doesn't it?

What fun! She is such a cutie! Every time I see a picture of Agnes, I want to cut my girls' hair like hers. I'm getting very tempted...

I may just take some of this as inspiration for hazels next party. And I love the balloon arch. I did that for hazels birthday a couple years ago (she had a rainbow themed party) and it was super festive and easy! Looks like it was a lot of fun.

Glad the nightgown fit - it's tough to sew for someone who's not there for fittings! It looked like a lovely affair - and the pillows turned out so well. And I'm glad you have such fond memories of your 5th b-day party - I was pregnant with Eliza and feeling rather unwell - Bonny and Amy were my helpers!!
