Just Part of the Revolution

If ever I did not have proof that David is my true love, I found it tonight!
We have some friends her (actually, our only friends so far) that we are going to swap babysitting with us so tonight was our first date in the Pacific Northwest. We haven't gone out alone for a few weeks (usually we go out every Saturday night) so it feels like along time. David did a little research and found a NICKELCADE!
We haven't been to a nickelcade since the glorious days of BYU married life. It was like coming home to walk through those dirty doors into an arena of old, strange, nickel-grabbing video games, skee-ball machines, air hockey tables, and race cars games. It was fun to walk around and win tickets so that we can earn prizes like disappearing ink and whoopee cushions. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a Ms. Pacman. Because really that is everyone's favorite game, but my cloud of disappointment quickly vanished when I turned and saw a separate little room off to the side. Standing there, next to a drinking fountain, was the Fountain of Youth...Dance, Dance Revolution.
I actually convinced David to participate, and we quickly dropped our nickels in before we could chicken out. And before the weird DDR junkies showed up to dominate all evening, like they always do. So we danced a few rounds. At first we felt really dorky and had a hard time following the weird arrows. Slowly it all fell into place and the machine started proclaiming Perfect! And Good! Instead of Miss! And Boo! And then we took a break and played pinball and some weird Namco game that was really fun.
I scrounged in my pocket and found enough nickels left for one last round of DDR. In our flip flops we jumped, stepped, and turned our little hearts out. And I hate to admit it but, somehow, David beat me BOTH times!

I could go for some DDR right now. That sounds like so much fun! I'm glad you guys had a good first date up there.

I am still looking for babysitting swappers. Nate and I have only been out like 4 times in the past 15 months...Hazel just screams and none of the teenaged babysitters want to come back. I can't pay them enough. some day soon maybe.

Brenden was (still is) a screamer/crier when I left him. Luckily I have a friend who isn't bothered by crying children - even her own. She had me drop him off a couple times a week for weeks in a row just to get him used to being dropped off. He would cry the entire time I was gone. Brave friend.
Now he only cries until the front door shuts and I'm told he instantly stops and goes and plays.

That sounds super fun. I used to go on dates to the Orem Nickelcade too! Alex and I like to race each other on California Dreamin'.

that is hilarious, dear ph! i love to think of you on ddr. i wouldn't ever have the guts to do it. never. probably not even in my own home. well, maybe, if we had curtains (which we don't), and if the lights were out and only my little family was there. you go girl! and you go, david!

I'm there!

I've never done DDR - with practice i'd probably be alright.

maybe you can convince me. we LOVE nickelcades. my favorite is the area 51 game where you're a cop killing all the bad guys. interesting, esp since i love violence so much. and pinball. got through byu with pinball at the dime arcade...
