Still nesting

I had finally had it with the lack of color in the boys' room, and I was pretty sure that DL did not want to paint it for me. So I hit Joann's and bought some clearance fabirc and made a bed skirt (pinking shears and sticky backed velcro) and a valance.
Henry was somewhat confused by the flags and he kept saying, "But there is no pole!". However, when I put them up, he said, "I get it now, it's like a pirate ship with flags."
Henry can now sleep away, dreaming of the Swiss Family Robinson.

Then FlyLady challenged me to clean up the laundry room a few weeks ago. Again, I thought of painting, and it may still happen at some point, but I spruced it up with new baskets and a picture on the wall. I have to admit, I do feel happier when I do the laundry.

very, very, very, cute. I've been wanting to fix my laundry room up too. If it will make me happier to do laundry, then I'm going to start fixing it up right now!

I love the sticky back velcro idea for the bed skirt. And the flags are great too!

Just a note on the sticky back velcro. It sticks well to the bed, but not the fabric, so I stapled it onto the fabric. kind of tacky, but it is impossible to sew sticky back velcro. The needle goes crazy.

Is that your mom's primary sampler hanging in the laundry room? My mom has one exactly like it that I want to get framed. My mother in law just framed hers in a shadow box with her "bandlo."

Kacy, It IS my mom's sampler. She gave it to me for Chirstmas when I was 10 or 12.
I have used it in a few lessons at church and I love how the "older" sisters always get a kick out of seeing one again. Then they say, I should really go and find mine and frame it.
Funny how they don't ask us to cross stitch anything to graduate from Primary.
