Life Lessons

I have learned that you should never say that the one calling that you never want to have is Ward Activities Chair. Because undoubtedly you will be released from a much beloved calling and then put in as Activities Chair one week before a ward party.

So farewell to the Young Women of the ward. Such lovely, talented, bright and entertaining teenagers- who would have thought? But I will miss the other leaders just as much as the girls. I consider myself blessed to have had the chance to spend so much time with such wonderful women. It has been 3 years well spent.

Now on to some party planning.

I was so sad to be released from YW too. That was a few years ago and actually eventually I enjoyed having more time during the week to do other stuff. But I still missed being with the girls and the other leaders.

In our ward it seems that Ward Activities people are always the brand-new people in the ward.

Anyway I would like to be at some of the fabulous parties I am sure you will throw.

You are going to do a great job though!

You will certainly be missed. I feel so privileged to have worked with the same incredible leaders you are talking about, including you! And I still think about the darling girls very, very often.

But off to new things and great adventures and I too wish I were able to come to your parties. you will do such a great job! much love.

Oh man! I made that mistake right after Tyler and I were married. I told him after our first Sunday in our married ward that I did NOT want to be on the Activities Committee and guess who was called two weeks later. It actually turned out fairly well- but I think I'd rather work with YW any day. I do agree though, you're sure to throw some fabulous parties- you already do!

I am surprised that you dread that calling - you are so good at planning and pulling off events! But I think you told me that once before. Anyway...you have my sympathy. I have to admit that it is my dreaded calling too. I think the only way to guarantee that you won't be on the Activities Committee anytime soon is to learn to play the organ. I'm starting to wonder if I will ever have a different calling.

I loved my years working in YW. But I would hate to be Activities Chairman.

I think you secretly like it - you didn't show enough horror over details while I was there!!

And I know you will do a great job!!

I am excited to go to RS every week, although I am already subbing in Primary next week:) I am also excited to plan some great activities. I already have a few floating around in my mind. More than anything, I am nervous that I won't be able to pull it off.

I'm in the same boat (released from YW, called to Activities, subbing in primary) except I don't mind being released from YW. I guess I'm a jerk.

Please post about your activities. Are you having a Halloween party? Or trunk or treat? We can collaborate!

You'll be great! Congrats, though I know it's hard to leave a great thing too.

Let's face it Kacy-your YW are probably not nearly as dreamy as mine. That's why you are not feeling bad about being released.

I'll email you about the upcoming activities. I would love to hear what your ward is doing, too.

There always comes a time when you are either sad, or not sad, to be released from your calling.

How's that for ambiguous?

You are the fun idea queen! You will be great. You will be missed in YW, I'm sure!

Sorry I am late to this blog! I notice I am one of three same faces in all the pictures and I might add, all the pictures still to be taken. Why, oh why did they take you from us? I still have a bad attitude and I might point out I'm not all together sure it was "inspired" since it's supposed to RAIN for your first outdoor party!

Love all those pictures! Especially the synchronized swimming! That is too funny... You did such a great job in YW's, and I know you will be greatly missed. But this ward needs all your fabulous ideas for some rockin parties! You will be great!
